Brian cares about delivering for you

When you elect someone, you want them to be available, responsive and engaged in helping to bring solutions to the challenges you’re facing with our city.

As someone with a career of service, through volunteer roles as well as professional ones, I will be a councillor that is dialled in to serving you. I will be open, available and active.

As your councillor, this is what you’ll see:

Responses within 48 hours – My office will be set up to ensure that your questions and concerns are responded to quickly and with the attention they deserve. Solving issues and navigating government excites me and while complex challenges will take time to resolve, you’ll understand quickly what’s possible and how I can help.

Timely email, social and web updates to connect us – Part of being open and transparent is regular communication about what’s happening at City Hall and how I’m planning to vote and act on key files. I’ve also heard from residents that they value knowing what’s happening in our community and knowing what’s happening with development files. I’ll share upcoming files at City Hall and how I intend to vote to invite input from you each week. I’ll share this along with events and development updates across email, social and web.

Regular “office” hours – I’ll always be available to meet by appointment, and I’ll also be available in the community at least every two weeks for pop-up “office” hours at local coffee shops across the ward. For people who want to connect in person, these informal opportunities for me to hear from you what’s important and how I can help will ensure I’m focussed on delivering for you.

Present and available in our community – I value connecting directly with residents regularly and will welcome invitations to events and gatherings. I will also organize “ward forums” twice per year to provide a gathering place for residents to connect with me about what’s ahead for our city and provide an open forum for residents to ask questions and share what they want to see for our ward and city.

Present and engaged with community leaders – As someone who’s been an active community leader I know the value of people coming together to improve our neighbourhoods and city. We have nine community associations across the Ward, and I will personally attend at least one meeting for each of them each year and will always be available to participate when asked. We also have a forum where all community associations come together at the K9. I will be available to participate in each meeting so that I hear directly from community leaders what’s important and can work closely to deliver what our community needs.

Engaged and present with our businesses – Our main street is a gem of Kitchissippi and our Business Improvement Associations bring together businesses to support a vibrant and prosperous community. As councillor with a seat on their boards, I will personally participate in meetings whenever possible to hear directly about the needs of our business community and be engaged to solve challenges when they arise.
